How is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy different from other hypnotherapy?

This therapy focuses on the solutions to an issue or concern, it does not keep looking at your problems like most traditional therapy.  It’s not a deep dive analysis into your past; it firmly focuses on your preferred desired future. Where do you want to be? what do you want to change, take control of or overcome? This can feel odd to start with as we are used to the spotlight directing on what has or is going wrong.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works with latest neuroscience research, looking at how your brain works in simply terms. Once you have a clearer understanding of how your mind works, you can see that change is possible as thoughts and behaviours are not set in stone.

I don’t tell you what to do either, interestingly you begin to work things out for yourself; solve your own concerns under my guidance. Besides you have all the resources within you for the positive change.

Therapy sessions will always look at what has been good in your life, however tiny that feels or appears to be; as searching for the small consistent good stuff makes the biggest shifts. Practicing focusing on the positives consistently, can then become a new beneficial habit.

 

Is Hypnosis safe?

Yes it is!  hypnosis or “trance” is a very natural relaxed state, we go into trance many times a day. When we have a shift in our conscious awareness.  Maybe, whilst driving, an example is, when you get to your destination and can’t remember the journey. When reading a good book, at the gym in a fitness class, its a state of focused attention.

The second part of  a regular therapy session I do guided relaxation (hypnosis) in short, you are now encouraged to relax your mind, your conscious awareness is focused on thoughts and suggestions that might be really useful. To conclude, contrary to belief you are very much in control, thus will not accept anything against your free will.

Can Solution Focused Hypnotherapy help everyone?

To begin with, if you have any concerns about having any type of therapy, always refer to your GP or medical professional. As a rule it can help the vast majority of issues. However, to benefit, it is important that you committed to the work and want change. You are making an investment in yourself in more ways than a financial one.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is not for?

SFH is not suitable for conditions such as psychosis, schizophrenia, severe psychiatric issues and borderline personality disorder

 

What happens in a complementary Initial Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Consultation?

Nearly always, we will have had a chat prior to booking this session, so I can understand your concern and how I might help you? At this session, I gather further information about you; this helps me assess if Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is something that you would benefit from. Things to consider:

Do you want to move your life forward in a new direction? 

Are you motivated for this new pathway, re-route ?

Do you want to focus on finding the solutions to your concerns? 

Likewise, you realise I cannot change your mindset, are willing to do the work yourself, with my full support.

Undoubtedly, you want to stop negatively forecasting, take back control.

Ultimately, I truly want the very best outcome for you and will always refer on, if I think I am not the best fit.

Next I provide you with some easy to understand facts about our brain. In particular essential bits of information,  how the mind works and how we have evolved. What’s more, you may even have a “lightbulb” moment, when you get clarity on behaviours and thoughts you may have. It’s your time to ask questions, so you make good use of this 60 minutes.

You will also be given a free link to my MP3 relaxation recording, that you can listen to, it will calm you mind, it’s a great tool, to help you go to sleep.

 

Is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy as successful on-line?

The good news is , its just as effective, enabling  me to see clients all over the country too which is amazing as I am more accessible.

To start with you will have a good internet connection this works in the same way as face to face therapy. Equally important is  a private and quiet space for the session, to the extent you will not be disturbed for 60 minutes.

What if I need to cancel a session?

In summary I ask for a full 24 hours notice for any cancellation. Equally, it is important for you to attend all sessions to benefit from this or any therapy too. To begin with, weekly sessions are really important. Also, I want the best outcome for you,  consistency and commitment is paramount, but I am also very aware that we are human beings, life can take over sometimes.
